Commissionerate Police arrest five in Mota Singh Market Clash
Jalandhar, November 15- The Commissionerate Police on Friday have arrested five persons involved in a clash between two groups on Wednesday late night in Mota Singh Market.
The accused have been identified as Vinod Kumar of Raja Garden Colony, Bhagat Singh of Rastan Mohalla, Pankaj Kumar of Deep Nagar, Avtar Singh of Alipur and Shiva Kumar of New Beant Nagar.
The Commissioner of Police Mr Gurpreet Singh Bhullar said that all of them belong to the group led by Chandan Kumar Manga who is undergoing treatment in a private hospital near Nakodar Chowk.
He also said that a case under sections 307, 160, 148, 149, 379-B of IPC and 13/3/67 of Gambling Act has been registered into this incident at Model Town Police Station.
He said that the accused are involved in gambling and fights and the remaining six to seven more accused persons belonging to both groups will be arrested soon.
Mr Bhullar said that Aman of Baba Kahan Dass Nagar, who was leading the second group, is admitted in a private hospital near Kapurthala Chowk and police parties have been deployed in both hospitals.
He told that the police have also seized 104 gambling cards, one bike and Rs 10,000 cash and said the detailed probe is being carried out in this clash.
He said that no one would be allowed to disturb the law and order in the city adding that severest of severe action would be taken against those trying to disturb peace in city.
